Just a Note From The Publisher

If you haven't already noticed the picture on the front page of Sardis Lake is a direct link to the lake level.  The Corps provides this information and it should always be dated. At this time there is no link back to Sardis Lake Pages but all you have to do is hit you back button on your browser.

Caught At Sardis Lake

World Record
Big Head Carp

Al Reed of Independence Mississipi and Principal at the Independence High School managed to land this trophy on a recent fishing trip at Sardis Lake.

This Big Head Carp weighed in at 65 pounds and exceeded the previous world record by 33 pounds.
With measurements of 45 inches in length and
36 1/2 inches around it took Al 45 minutes to land this fish.

Now for the real hard facts it was reported to be
caught using a cane pole with 14 pound test line.

W.A. Burton and Lou Cuccaro, Michigan City, Ms, had a good fishing expedition on Sardis recently.  The duo netted approximately 35 crappie for a half days fishing.  The left bottom of the picture displays what is inside the cooler in the boat.  I had noticed jigs on the poles in the boat but they did tell me they caught them on Sardis Lake.
